Mike’s Rent to Own Eliminates Hassles by Migrating to Google Workspace
Mike’s Rent to Own operates 13 stores across Kansas, selling top brands and delivering great service. The company offers the best selection of rent-to-own furniture, appliances, electronics, tires, and more.Wursta migrated 200 GB of email data from Rackspace into Google Workspace. The migration was completed within the planned time frame. Additionally, Wursta provided change management, including live webinar training and customized user guides.
Wursta set everything up ahead of time, including pulling in all our old email. When it was time to switch, it was all ready. We didn’t have to do anything at that point and there was no gap. It went really smoothly. I don’t get any phone calls saying, ‘My email’s not working.’ It just works.

The Challenge
Michael Strong, co-owner, Mike’s Rent to Own, explained, “We were using Microsoft 365 webmail hosted on Rackspace, which was fine until it wasn’t, and then it was a total, unmitigated disaster. There were some deliverability issues and with email, you can’t wonder if it got there or not. I was also shocked at how difficult it was to simply manage a basic address book, which is important. So, we were looking to switch to something else.”
The Solution
“I considered switching directly to Microsoft 365 without using Rackspace, but I like Google. We’re a small company, and we don’t have an IT department. I went through Google’s platform and was directed to Wursta. Then it became a question of, ‘Do we want to do all the backend work ourselves or pay Wursta?’ It was a good decision to pay Wursta,” explained Mike.
The Results
Wursta migrated a total of 200 GB of email data from Rackspace into Google Workspace. The migration was completed within the planned time frame.
No Downtime
“Wursta set everything up ahead of time over a weekend, including pulling in all our old email messages. When it was time to switch to the new platform, it was all ready to go on Monday morning. We didn’t have to do anything at that point and there was no gap. It went really smoothly,” stated Mike.
Helpful Training Sessions & Saving License Fees
Wursta provided Mike’s Rent to Own with change management including live webinar training and customized user guides. “The training sessions were very well thought-out and done really well. It was just very easy,” said Mike.
Additionally, Mike’s Rent to Own no longer needs to buy Zoom licenses now that they’re using built-in Google Meet.
“It Just Works”
Mike stated, “I don’t get any phone calls with people saying, ‘My email’s not working.’ It just works. Google is also really good at filtering out what we’d consider to be spam, junk, and phishing emails.
“Before we didn’t really have any ability to email groups of people, but now with Gmail, we can contact all store managers or district managers, or send one email to every person in the company. Our previous vendor didn’t offer that functionality. From a productivity standpoint, it’s obviously way better, and the way it should be.”
Responsive Support
“If I need support from Wursta, I can get a response on the phone or via email almost immediately, whereas with Rackspace, I wouldn’t hear from them for days.
“We thought switching email would be as bad as switching banks, so we tolerated it until we couldn’t anymore. But now we realize we should’ve done it long ago. I would refer everybody to Wursta,” concluded Mike.
